KOTE is an art and culture space that combines the words flower (kkot) and courtyard (tteul), and refers to the paulownia flowers that bloom in the courtyard of Insadong 1-gil, the first of 16 alleys in Insadong. It means "flower in the courtyard of the boundary,"

Insadong1gil, the first alley of Insadong, is a space for performances, gatherings, and exchange. We welcome all to draw, eat, drink and meet in the alley. In doing so, KOTE extends into the alley, and the alley into KOTE.
