'I accumulate, I pool, I reflect, I lie down, I peek, I hide.'
'Body · Flesh' Kwon Hyuksoo Solo Exhibition
10.12 -10.29
KOTE Gallery 3F
Event: 10/17 (Thurs) 3PM, 10/24 (Thurs) 3PM
Every morning, we wake up. Beneath our skin, our pulse beats and we breathe in, starting a new day. 'Flesh' is not merely a layer of skin and tissue, but the foundation of all sensory experiences through which we touch, see, and feel the world. 'Flesh' is not an abstract concept, but a vivid presence directly experienced as reality. 'Flesh' is not static, but a dynamic aspect of existence constantly changing and interacting.
The artist illuminates the holistic essence of our existence in multiple layers through 'flesh', a philosophical and phenomenological tool that emphasizes the inseparable relationship between our existence and the world. By embodying the physical reality of the body through the medium of paper, this work demonstrates that our existence, our flesh, cannot be separated from the world. Through this, he suggests that sensory experience represents a direct connection with the world and can simultaneously become a channel for spiritual exploration.
'Flesh' is an expression of the holistic existence connecting body and world, a substance imbued with vitality, the place where the soul resides. Through the transcendental experience of art, the artist guides us to the invisible world of the soul and allows us to experience the cycle of existence.
