It’s so hard to understand, even when we speak the same language.
That’s the power and meaning of words.
To distinguish between [you’re doing well] and [you’re doing so well], seems to be part of becoming an adult.
How much do our expressions and gestures confuse us?
The difficulty of recognizing the thorns hidden within words through non-verbal cues.
The social necessity of nodding in agreement, clapping, and empathizing, even when we don’t want to.
Sometimes, a brief, blunt greeting carries a sincere concern and warmth.
The laughter that would quietly emerge even through a mother’s scolding.
I want to capture that fleeting moment and translate the vividness I felt onto the canvas.
I want to hear the roar of a lion hidden behind a calm expression.
The five-year-old who used to draw princesses wearing tiaras with a 12-color earth-tone pencil on a notebook,
is now painting people on canvas with oil paints.
