‘In Search of Grooves!’, a special exhibition
by ‘One Source Multi Use’ ATAW artist Jean Paul Hong.
9.11(WED)-9.24(TUES)
3F KOTE Gallery
From Spectator to Collector and Artist
Jean Paul Hong‘s artistic journey began with a corporate executive’s world art museum tour. What started as a work-related task of visiting 100 museums soon evolved into a personal passion, leading to a grand exploration of over 2,000 museums and galleries. During this journey, the artist came to describe himself as a ‘severe art addict.’
Nam June Paik‘s work at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo ignited Hong’s passion for collecting; the Joseph Beuys exhibition at the SOMA Museum of Art in Seoul inspired his creativity. Subsequently, he began to spontaneously create paintings in everyday spaces such as cafes and restaurants.
For Jean Paul Hong, art has become more than just a hobby; it has become a force that sustains his life. He confesses, ”If it weren‘t for painting, I might have committed suicide!!!“ This exhibition offers a special opportunity to follow Jean Paul Hong’s artistic journey and experience the ‘Groove’ he has captured. Visitors will have the chance to discover the pulse of art in daily life through the artist‘s eyes and experience the healing power of art.
In search of grooves!
At first, I just
Looked
As I kept
Looking
a Groove
Appeared!
The more
I looked
The more
I saw!
When I find
A cool
Groove
It's my
Lucky day!
It makes me
Feel good!
Before I knew it
I became
A severe
Artholic!
I captured
The moment
Drew the
Groove!
My insomnia
Disappeared!
And so
Today
Was born!
